India won a record 19 medals, including five golds, in the Tokyo Paralympics for a 24th-place finish in the overall rankings. Three years on, the country’s target is more than 25 medals with a double-digit haul in gold.
On the opening day, India will be involved in multiple events including archery, badminton, and taekwondo. The youngest member of the Indian contingent, Sheetal Devi (17), will begin the country’s campaign in para archery.
In para badminton, the likes of Palak Kohli, Thulasimathi Murugesan, Manisha Ramdass, Sivarajan Solaimalai, and Krishna Nagar, who is defending his gold medal from Tokyo, will be in action.
Aruna Tanwar will compete in para taekwondo, Jyoti Gaderiya will be eyeing qualification to the bronze or gold medal race in the para cycling C1-3 3000m individual pursuit.
