That brings us to the end of what was a packed Day 4 at the Paris Paralympics, one in which India won two medals and confirmed three more — at least silver at that — in para-badminton.

Murugesan ends up defeating Ramadass 23-21, 21-17 — both games being closely-fought affairs — to advance to the final, with the latter set to compete for bronze tomorrow.

India win their third medal in athletics in the ongoing Paris Paralympics, as well as their seventh overall, with Nishad Kumar winning silver in men’s high jump with a final height of 2.04m — his season best!

He finishes behind USA’s Roderick Townsend, who takes home the gold with season-best 2.12m while neutral para-athlete Georgii Margiev wins bronze with 2.00 — an area record!

Ram Pal was the other Indian competing in the event and he finishes seventh with a maximum height of 1.95m — his personal best.

Paris Paralympics 2020 Day 4 Highlights: India will aim to secure more medals on 1 September (Day 4) with three finals scheduled and three more medal matches possible. So far India have won five medals at the Paris Paralympics 2024 with Rubina Francis winning a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol SH1 event. Overall India have won one gold, one silver, and three bronze.

Avani Lekhara who won the only gold medal will be back in action on Sunday with Sidharth Banu in the Mixed 10m Rifle Prone qualification, with the final also scheduled to take place today, while Ravi Rangoli (Shot put F40), Nishad Kumar and Rampal (High jump T47) and Preethi Pal (200m T35) will take part in athletics medal events.

Another medal hope is archer Rakesh Kumar in the men’s individual compound, He will start his day with the 1/8 elimination round.

India are already assured of a medal in badminton with Suhas Yathiraj and Sukant Kadam facing each other in the men’s singles SL4 semi-finals on Sunday.

The winner of the match will be assured of at least a silver. Thulasimathi Murugesan (SU5) and Nitesh Kumar (SL3) also compete in badminton semi-finals and will be assured of medals with victories in their respective matches.
