The much larger details of the 2024 Paris Paralympics closing ceremony has remained a secret. LA28, however,  recently announced a list of personalities who will feature after the baton is passed to Los Angeles.

The closing ceremony of the Paris Paralympics will take place on Sunday, 8 September. Reuters

The 2024 Paris Paralympics will come to an end on Sunday (8 September) after almost two weeks of gruelling sporting extravaganza. Like the Olympics closing ceremony that took place on 12 August, the closing ceremony of the Paralympics too will be held at the iconic Stade de France.

Archer Harvinder Singh, who won gold in men’s individual recurve open, and para-athlete Preethi Pal, who won two bronze medals, will be India’s flag-bearers at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics.

India have won a record 27 medals in Paris so far (Six gold, nine silver and 12 bronze), and that tally could go further up before the Games officially come to an end on Sunday. India broke the country’s previous best medals tally of 19 at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021.

What can be expected from the Paris Paralympics closing ceremony and who will perform?

Artistic director Thomas Jolly, the mastermind of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics as well as the opening ceremony of the Paralympics, will spearhead the proceedings for the Paralympics closing ceremony as well. ‘

As per the official website of the Olympics, Ali Stroker, a Tony Award-winning actress, will perform the national anthem of the United State during the handover ceremony.

That will be followed by a musical performance that will feature several prominent artists.

The closing ceremony of the 2024 Pars Paralympics is scheduled to begin at 8 pm local time in Paris (11.30 pm)
