It’s USA-Jamaica-USA on the podium with Thompson, who initially thought he won the title, collecting silver and Fred Kerley winning bronze!

Asian championships silver medallist Nisha Dahiya will be the first Indian wrestler in action in the Paris Olympics on Monday, facing Ukraine’s Tetiana Sova, seeded fifth, in the women’s 68kg freestyle Round of 16.

Sova has won four medals at the European Championships, including the 65kg title in 2022.

Hockey India on Sunday released a statement that the sporting body had officially raised concerns on the “quality of umpiring and decision-making”, with regards to the men’s team’s quarter-final against Great Britain. “Inconsistent video umpire reviews, particularly regarding the red card decision for an Indian player, which has eroded trust in the video review system,” reads one of the major points in the statement.

During the quarter-final that India won, Amit Rohidas was given a red card after he appeared to lift his hockey stick onto the face of Will Calnan. That gesture was declared as “dangerous play” by the officials. As a result, India were down to 10 men for more than 40 minutes.
