Reigning Olympic men’s javelin champion Neeraj Chopra and compatriot Kishore Jena will kickstart their season at the third meet of the 2024 Diamond League in Doha, Qatar on Friday.
Chopra and Jena are returning to action for the first time in seven months, with the two having last competed in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China last year where they won gold and silver respectively.
Both Chopra and Jena have already qualified for the Paris Olympics, which takes place between 26 July and 11 August in the French capital, both having done so by achieving the entry standard.

The two had skipped the opening meets of the 2024 Diamond League in China’s Xiamen and Shanghai/Suzhou. Thus, Friday’s Diamond League meet in the Qatari capital will mark the beginning of their final preparations for the 33rd edition of the world’s biggest sporting event.
While Haryana’s Chopra is the only Indian to have won gold at the elite athletics event, Odisha’s Jena will be making his debut.
Triple jumper Abdulla Aboobacker is the only Indian to have made an appearance in the ongoing Diamond League so far with an eighth-place finish in the opening meet in Xiamen .
