Lionel Messi is widely considered the GOAT (Greatest of all time) in football, or among the greatest to have ever played the ‘Beautiful Game’ alongside Pele, Diego Maradona as well as arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo, at the very least. But how good he is as a boxer is something than fans will soon find out, should he accept a challenge from YouTuber-turned-professional wrestler Logan Paul.

While boxers mainly fight for titles, or for bragging rights when it comes to celebrity face-offs, Logan has added an interesting stipulation to his proposed showdown against the Argentine superstar – he is willing to drop an ongoing legal dispute between their energy drink brands if Messi agrees to face him in the ring.

Logan has been at loggerheads with Messi ever since the legendary forward launched his energy drink Mas+ last year. The popular YouTuber and streamer who currently wrestles for World Wrestling Entertainment claims Mas+ imitates the packaging and branding of his own drink PRIME which he had launched with business partner KSI in 2022.

Messi’s legal team had filed a lawsuit against Logan in October alleging “anti-competitive” behaviour PRIME tried to force them to change their packaging. Logan’s brand would then counter-sue Messi alleging the football star’s brand had copied their trademarked design.

In a clip that is going viral on social media, Logan called Messi out for “copying” his brand and challenged him to a bout.

“Brother, you copied us. Everyone saw it. They saw what you did,” the 29-year-old says in the clip after reading out a news headline that accuses him of harassing Messi.

“Everyone notices it and then we got sued. Hold on, wait, what? This ain’t justice. So we countersued, obviously. If you can’t beat the best, you gotta be the best. But that’s illegal. That’s trademark infringement.

“We’re holding him accountable, and it’s harassment?

“All jokes aside, I will consider dropping this if Logan Paul vs Messi (gets made in) 2025. I’ll see you in the ring brother,” Logan continued in the video.

Messi, who currently plays for Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami after representing Barcelona for 17 years and Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons, is yet to officially respond to Logan’s challenge.

It remains to be seen if he’ll have the time for a boxing match given his busy schedule for ‘The Herons’ as well as for Argentina, who are set to defend the FIFA World Cup next year.

Logan was in talks with UFC legend Conor McGregor for an exhibition boxing match in Mumbai for a jaw-dropping purse of $250 million. The bout, however, has since been dropped with McGregor claiming TKO – the organisation that owns mixed martial arts promotion Ultimate Fighting Championship as well as WWE – hardly showed interested in the match.
