RCB were outplayed. Particularly in fielding and bowling. SRH were brilliant with heir fielding and extremely disciplined with the bowling. RCB, on the other hand looked rusty. Their fielding was pathetic. Chahal bowled brilliantly. Mills too did a good job. But with the fielders so butter-fingered, the bowlers were let down time and again. The ground fielding too was bad. RCB’s batsmen got a look-in but seemed to lack the conviction to carry on. For SRH, Hendriques, Cutting and Yuvraj were outstanding. Skipper Warner didn’t get runs but fielded superbly. RCB lost by 35 runs. They need to get back and tweak quite a bit about their way of playing.

OUT! A rather tame way for the match to end, and Royal Challengers Bangalore have been bowled out after a very long time! Having hit the previous delivery for a six towards fine-leg with a hook, Aniket Choudhary pats the next delivery towards wide mid-on. The fielder throws the ball back to the non-striker’s stumps, with Yuzvendra Chahal well outside his crease! Sunrisers Hyderabad defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 35 runs as a result, and this has turned out to be easier than expected for the defending champions against last year’s runners-up.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls his final over, and is in for a rude shock when Mills dispatches him for a six over deep point. Bhuvi responds with a slower delivery that results in a miscue towards mid-on,  with Bangalore now just a wicket away from a certain defeat.

OUT! Bhuvneshwar removes Mills right after the latter smashes him for a six. Tries to hit towards long-on this time, though a bottom-edge means he doesn’t get the required distance. Warner gets under the ball, and completes the catch near the mid-on region.

If there had to be one over that has virtually sealed the game for SRH, it is this, with Nehra giving away just two runs while taking two wickets, including the key scalp of Watson!

OUT! Two-in-two for Ashish Nehra! The veteran pacer fires a full-toss to Aravind, and uproots his leg-stump with utmost ease to reduce RCB to 156/8. The local fans, having been silenced by the batting of Gayle and Jadhav, are upbeat at the moment, knowing the game has virtually been sealed. This is also Nehra’s 100th wicket in IPL.

OUT! And that should virtually signal the end of the RCB innings, though one can never really rule out the impossible. Watson tries to go for an almighty slog, and ends up top-edging it to Henriques at extra-cover. The RCB skipper knows his folly almost right after, with the visitors losing their seventh wicket with 156 on board.

Bhuvi back into the attack, with the last four overs to go in the RCB innings. Binny bottom-edges the second delivery to send the ball high near the short third-man region. Ojha screams out for the catch, but fails to position himself properly for the catch, dropping a sitter in the process. The Indian pacer ensures Binny doesn’t walk away with too many runs in his second life, inducing him into a miscue with a leg-cutter.

OUT! Having been dropped barely a couple of deliveries earlier, Bhuvneshwar  ensures he doesn’t let Binny walk away with a lot of runs from that. Binny tries pulling this one, only to mistime it and send it straight to Yuvraj at short third-man. RCB lose their sixth wicket with 154 on board, with another 19 balls left.

Cutting back into the attack for his third over, and now Binny gets the confidence to whack to ball over the boundary rope, targeting the midwicket region. Cutting surprises Binny with a shorter ball in the third delivery, which he feebly tries to uppercut. Nearly results in a catch for Yuvraj stationed at short third man. Watson creams the fifth ball of the over through cover to bring the 150 up for RCB, who still are in the hunt as long as these two are around.

After 15 overs,Bangalore 139/5 ( Shane Watson (C) 13 , Stuart Binny 3)

Last over for Rashid Khan, who has had something of a dream debut so far in the match. The Afghan unleashes a couple of googlies in the over, one of which results in an unsuccessful lbw appeal. Watson strikes the last ball of his spell down the ground for a six, ending his run in this game on a rather unsatisfactory note. Great debut for Rashid nevertheless, letting the ball do the talking after the big bucks.

Just four singles and a wicket in the 14th over of the RCB innings, and the visitors have already lost half of their batsmen. Binny joins Watson out at the centre, and the latter’s hard-hitting abilities is perhaps the last source of hope for Bangaloreans. Oh how this game has turned!

OUT! This is turning out to be a one-sided path to victory for Hyderabad now, with Sachin Baby getting a thick edge towards square-leg. where Henriques holds on to the catch to complete the fifth wicket. Bipul Sharma strikes in his very first over! RCB 128/5 after 13.4 overs.

Rashid into his third over, and one feels the couple of boundaries in his previous over would have dented his confidence slightly. Bad ball by Rashid in the fourth delivery, with the ball travelling over to the square-leg boundary — landing an inch inside the rope. Rashid has the perfect answer in the very next delivery, firing a wrong ‘un to fox the Australian batsman, capturing his second wicket of the innings. As the innings heads into its second strategic time out, one can’t help but feel the game slowly drifing away in Hyderabad’s favour.

What a throw! Kedar Jadhav would have realised the difference between a quick, flat throw and run of the mill fielding. The Ben Cutting throw and the manner in which the bails flew off the stumps sent wicket-keeper Naman Ojha scurrying for a helmet complete with a protective grill. He probably needs shatter proof eye glasses too. Cutting who took last year’s final away from RCB has already made a mark in this match with his batting and fielding. Looks like he will be a big player for SRH this season. Lovely partnership between Jadhav and Head broken. Funny thing RCB looks like losing wickets in pairs. Head left soon after, in the next over! RCB in trouble. But match not over yet.

OUT! Rashid Khan strikes again, and what a game he is having right now! Barely a delivery after getting for a boundary, Rashid makes a perfect comeback with a googly that completely foxes Head, getting a bottom-edge off his bat that carries to Yuvraj Singh near the long-on fence. RCB 126/4

Jadhav swings his bat with disdain in the fourth delivery, dispatching the full toss towards the midwicket boundary. Follows it up with a low pull off his hip to get his second successive boundary, which also brings up the 50-stand.

All-rounder Moises Henriques introduced into the attack in the next over, and he starts off with a no-ball called for height. Head manages to slog the free-hit down the ground, beating an agile Warner to the boundary. Head slashes hard in the third ball of the over, only to get a single. Jadhav nearly offers a return catch to Henriques in the last ball of the over, with the bowler going for the catch a tad late.

Time for the first strategic break of the innings at the end of the ninth over, with RCB needing another 123 to win from 66 deliveries.

SIX! Hooda misfires, bowling a wide full toss to get whacked over his head into the first tier! Much better delivery to follow by the all-rounder in the next delivery, this time getting Gayle dismissed courtesy a miscue. The spinners have brought SRH right back into the game after Gayle and Mandeep were looking set to bring up the 100-stand in less than 10 overs. Two new batsmen at the crease, and a plenty of pressure on the visitors now.

Bowled by an Afghani. That’s Mandeep’s lot. He saw through some terrific international bowlers — Bhuvi, Nehra, Cutting. But chopped Rashid Khan onto his stumps. Ball skidded onto him. All of Afghanistan’s cricketing lot would be celebrating for sure. Red day letter day for Afghanistan for sure. But the bigger blow for SRH was struck by a Hooda. He got rid of  dangerman Gayle. Suddenly RCB don’t look all that hot with bowlers taking pace off the ball. Both openers are cooling it out in the pavilion.

Gayle usually hangs around for a few overs before opening up. This time too it looked like he would be given the time to settle down while  Mandeep  would go for the bowling. And so it seemed as  Mandeep  raced to double digits even as Gayle got his single. But the third over changed all that. A rusty  Nehra  came in for harsh treatment, including a gigantic six. The ball probably came down with ice on it! Gayle was off and  Bhuvi  too got the treatment. Are we in for a run feast? Probably if Gayle is out there for another 8 to 10 overs!

Ben Cutting into the attack, and he starts off on an aggressive note, firing a bouncer along leg to Gayle. Follows it up with a full, wide delivery. Tries the same thing a couple of deliveries later, only to concede a wide. After a few misses, Gayle finally connects in the final delivery, whacking the ball towards the midwicket fence for his second four. Decent over from SRH’s perspective though, with five coming off it.

Effortless hit by Gayle over long-on to get his second six of the innings, and it seems the Big Jamaican has already started his fireworks. Bhuvi too fired it into the perfect slot for the hit. A double, wide, single and a boundary follow, with 15 coming off the over. Suddenly, Bhuvi’s progress is pegged back. RCB , meanwhile, are making decent progress.

Nehra into his second over. Gayle tucks one off his hip in the second ball of the third over to get his first boundary of the innings, swinging his bat again in the following delivery, only to get a single. Hooda makes room for himself in the fourth delivery, sending it ovewr mid-on for a one-bounce four. Gayle, having got a boundary earlier in the over, stamps authority on the veteran pacer with a loft that sent the ball into the clouds, although it does not go into the first tier as one would normally expect.

Preview: Hampered by injuries to some of their biggest stars, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have their task cut out when they take on defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL lung-opener here tomorrow. Captain Virat Kohli and star batsman AB de Villiers will be unavailable for tomorrow’s match due to injuries. While Kohli is ruled out because of a shoulder injury, de Villiers is nursing a back problem. They have also lost star batsman KL Rahul for the whole tournament owing to injury. In addition, RCB’s young batsman Sarfaraz Khan will most likely be unavailable for the entire season after hurting himself on the field during a practice match in Bengaluru. [caption id=“attachment_3369708” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![David Warner and Shane Watson, captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively. Sportzpics[/caption] Sarfaraz Khan was was expected to partner Chris Gayle in the absence of Kohli. As Kohli is likely to miss the first few matches in the tournament, the team has named Shane Watson as its captain in the interim. RCB can still bank on Gayle and Watson who are both capable of destroying any opposition on their day. Kedar Jadhav, a rising Indian star, can rise to the occasion and fill the gap caused by Rahul’s absence. Australian Twenty20 star Travis Head, Indian players Sachin Baby and Mandeep Singh, who have previous experience of playing in the IPL, are also valuable assets in the batting order. RCB boasts of some deadly bowlers in English paceman Tymal Mills, an expensive buy at the IPL 2017 auction, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal’s six-wicket haul had helped India clinch last year’s series against England. West Indies’ Twenty20 specialist leg-spinner Samuel Badree, Kiwi pacer Adam Milne and left-arm seamer Aniket Choudhary add to the bowling strength of the Bangalore outfit. Indian players like Sreenath Aravind, Stuart Binny and all-rounder Pawan Negi are also expected to help the team’s cause. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, are determined to repeat last year’s magic to grab the title. Hyderabad has one of the most formidable batsmen in IPL in its skipper David Warner, who led from the front last season. Though Warner was not in the best of forms during Australia’s recently-concluded tour of India, he did score well in the match at Dharamshala. And he is expected to be a key player for Hyderabad. Warner opens batting in the company of Shikhar Dhawan, who is keen to make a mark after losing his berth in the Indian national side. Dhawan was impressive in the recent Deodhar Trophy and would look to carry the good form into the IPL. Click here for the full schedule of Indian Premier League (IPL) 10 Seasoned campaigner Yuvraj Singh also adds to the batting strength of SRH, but the much-talked about middle-order needs to raise the bar, especially in the event of Warner and Dhawan falling short of expectations. Moises Henriques, Kane Williamson, Naman Ojha, Deepak Hooda, and Vijay Shankar are no pushovers and make for a solid line-up. The SRH bowling is one of the best in IPL. Though the team would be deprived of the services of Mustafizzur Rahman for tomorrow’s match, the seasoned Ashish Nehra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Barinder Sran are quality bowlers, who can turn the match at any given time. The team has acquired Rashid Khan, a unique leg-spinner from Afghanistan, this year to add to its bowling strength. All-rounders like Yuvraj Singh, Henriques, Ben Cutting, Mohammad Nabi and Chris Jordan would also be crucial to the team’s fortunes. Squads: Royal Challengers Bangalore: Shane Watson (C), Sreenath Aravind, Avesh Khan, Samuel Badree, Stuart Binny, Yuzvendra Chahal, Aniket Choudhary, Praveen Dubey, Chris Gayle, Travis Head, Iqbal Abdulla, Kedar Jadhav, Mandeep Singh, Tymal Mills, Adam Milne, Pawan Negi, Harshal Patel, Sachin Baby, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Billy Stanlake. Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner (C), Tanmay Agarwal, Ricky Bhui, Bipul Sharma, Ben Cutting, Shikhar Dhawan, Eklavya Dwivedi, Moises Henriques, Deepak Hooda, Chris Jordan, Siddharth Kaul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ben Laughlin, Abhimanyu Mithun, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammed Siraj, Mustafizur Rahman, Ashish Nehra, Naman Ojha (wk), Rashid Khan, Vijay Shankar, Barinder Sran, Pravin Tambe, Kane Williamson and Yuvraj Singh.
