AFP[/caption] Sunil Gavaskar has been nominated for the Dhyanchand Award for his lifetime achievement in the sport. Gavaskar was the first batsman to score 10,000 Test runs. There was a communication lapse between the BCCI and the sports ministry last time out, but this time the cricket board has sent in their nominations before the deadline — 30 April. Reports also say that the two nominations received for the Khel Ratna award were of Paralympian HN Girisha and hockey player Sandeep Singh. Girisha’s silver medal-winning effort in high jump at the London Paralympic Games fetched him the Padma Shri earlier this year.
