What does the red card mean in hockey?
The red card in hockey is the highest punishment in the sport. A red card means a player has to leave the pitch and the team has to play with one less player for the rest of the game.
Rohidas’ red card meant India played the remaining 43 minutes of the match with only 10 players.
**Paris Olympics: News, schedule, medals tally and more**The red card seemed to have inspired India as captain Harmanpreet Singh scored the first goal of the match through a penalty corner to give them the lead in the 22nd minute. Lee Morton equalised for Great Britain in the 27th minute.
The score remained tied at 1-1 till the end of normal time as Great Britain missed out on several chances in the second half. Eventually in the shoot-out, India converted all four attempts while goalkeeper PR Sreejesh saved one and GB missed another to lose 2-4.
The Indian camp has appealed the decision and asked for it to overturned to allow Rohidas to play the semi-final.
