The pictures of the Oval Office in the White House have stunned a few football fans across the globe, as the FIFA Club World Cup trophy can be seen sitting behind President Donald Trump. The FIFA Club World Cup trophy was won by Chelsea after beating European Champions PSG 3-0 in a match in New Jersey last month, but fans spotted that the trophy is still in the Oval Office when the White House released a new picture recently.
The picture released by the White House showed Trump meeting European leaders and the Ukrainian President on Monday, and the trophy can be seen at the back. This led to a huge chatter on social media among football fans over why the trophy, which was won by Chelsea, is still in the Oval Office.
FIFA gave Club World Cup trophy to Trump
The truth is that he was handed over the trophy by FIFA itself. Why? As a token of appreciation for hosting the newly-expanded FIFA World Cup. This was confirmed by Trump in an interview.
“I said, ‘When are you going to pick up the trophy?’ [They said] ‘We’re never going to pick it up. You can have it forever in the Oval Office, we’re making a new one’,” Trump said in an interview with DAZN.
“And they actually made a new one. So that was quite exciting, but it is in the Oval [Office] right now.”

But that claim is not 100% true.
Trump has Club World Cup trophy replica
The real truth, as per FIFA, is that there are three Club World Cup trophies in existence at the moment. The original one is at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. The world governing body follows the same process for the World Cup trophy as well.
The second replica is with Chelsea, and the third one is in the Oval Office of the White House. FIFA told BBC that the replica of the Club World Cup trophy was given to Trump as a “recognition of the 2025 tournament’s exceptional hosts.”
