Marcus Rashford is reportedly open to making his loan move to Aston Villa permanent after feeling uplifted under manager Unai Emery. The 27-year-old forward, who joined Villa from Manchester United in January on a loan deal with an option to buy for £40 million, is said to be keen on staying in the Premier League rather than seeking opportunities abroad.
Rashford wants to move to Villa permanently
After spending nearly two decades at Manchester United, Rashford’s relationship with the club soured following a fallout with new manager Ruben Amorim. Despite scoring the first goal of Amorim’s tenure, Rashford found himself sidelined, leading to his eventual move to Villa Park.
Since his arrival, Rashford has shown glimpses of his old form, registering two assists in Villa’s dramatic comeback victory over Chelsea. While he is yet to score for his new club, his performances have reportedly impressed both teammates and fans, with reports suggesting that he feels like a new player under Emery.
According to The Sun, Rashford’s desire to remain at Villa is driven by two key factors - Unai Emery’s influence and his preference to stay in England despite interest from top European clubs like Barcelona and PSG, as well as teams in Germany, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.
Villa’s stance on a permanent deal
Aston Villa is reportedly evaluating whether to trigger the £40 million option to sign Rashford permanently in the summer. With the club pushing for a top-four finish, his potential long-term stay could bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.
Additionally, Rashford is eager to work his way back into the England squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel. A successful spell at Villa Park could boost his chances of reclaiming a spot in the Three Lions setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Earlier, another report from The Sun had claimed that Rashford was eyeing a summer move to Barcelona and was even willing to take a pay cut to make the transfer easier.
