The original FIFA World Cup trophy has arrived in India for a three-day tour ahead of the 2026 tournament. Fans can see it in Delhi on January 11 and in Guwahati on January 13.

Football fans in India got a special treat on Saturday as the original FIFA World Cup trophy arrived in the country for a three-day tour ahead of the 2026 tournament, which kicks off on June 11 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The trophy was unveiled at a ceremony in New Delhi in the presence of former Brazilian World Cup winner and FIFA legend Gilberto D’Silva, along with Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya. AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey was also present at the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, D’Silva said the trophy will inspire youngsters in India to take up football, much like they do with cricket. “This trophy is to inspire so many young kids, inspire the next generation of players, women and boys to become successful also here in football, as they have done in other sports, especially in cricket,” he said.

Everything to know about the FIFA World Cup trophy tour in India

The FIFA World Cup trophy has returned to India after nearly 12 years as part of its global tour, organised by Coca-Cola, an official FIFA partner.

The trophy will be displayed at designated venues in Delhi for two days and in Guwahati, Assam for one day. Gates will open at 12:00 noon. Children under 13 years of age will not be allowed entry.

In Delhi, the trophy will be displayed at the NSIC Stadium in Okhla on January 11 and 12, while the ACA Stadium in Barsapara will host it in Guwahati on January 13.

During its global journey, the trophy will visit 30 FIFA member associations (countries) across 75 stops and over 150 tour days, offering fans an incredible opportunity to experience the thrill and connection of football.

The trophy, made of 18-carat solid gold, weighing 6.175 kg, features two human figures holding the globe above them. The design dates back to 1974.
