The Indian football team will be desperate to return to winning ways when they face Bangladesh in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in Dhaka on Tuesday. The upcoming match will mark the second meeting between the south Asian neighbours, who are placed in Group C along with Hong Kong and Singapore in the third round of qualifiers for the next Asian Cup.
The Blue Tigers had previously played out a goalless draw against the Bengal Tigers in Shillong in March. That game had witnessed Sunil Chhetri return to the Indian team less than a year after retiring from international football, as well as the Bangladesh debut for the England-born Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhary.
Both teams have been on a winless run in the Asian Cup Qualifiers since then, losing two and drawing one game each. India would suffer a 0-1 loss at Hong Kong in their next outing in June and before facing Singapore twice last month – holding them to a 1-1 draw away before losing 2-1 at home.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, lost both of their next outings – 2-3 against Singapore and 3-4 against Hong Kong. They had held Hong Kong to a 1-1 draw in their last outing.

Both teams have already been knocked out of the race to fill the last six slots in the 2027 Asian Cup, which will be taking place in Saudi Arabia, and will be playing for pride when they meet less than 24 hours from now.
With just one more match left in the third round of qualifiers after Tuesday’s clash, both teams will be hoping to sign off with at least one win.
