Ballon d'Or pays tribute to late Portugal and Liverpool star Diogo Jota

Jota had helped Liverpool win their 20th English top-flight title and starred in Portugal’s victory over Spain in the UEFA Nations League earlier this year. His life, however, was tragically cut short at just 28 years of age due to a car accident in Spain, which also claimed the life of his 25-year-old brother Andre Silva.

Tributes are also paid to Manchester United legend Denis Law, who had passed away at the age of 84 in January.

This is more than football.

Ballon d’Or 2025 LIVE: The wait for the 69th annual ceremony of the Ballon d'Or (Golden Ball) has finally come to an end with the event set to get underway in Paris on Monday evening.
