The Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House on Monday with some of their key players missing as they were honoured by the USA President Donald Trump for winning Super Bowl LIX . The Eagles won the National Football League (NFL) championship by beating the Kansas City Chiefs in the final.
Interestingly, Eagles’ trip to the White House in 2018, after winning the Lombardi Trophy, was cancelled by Trump as a majority of the players did not want to attend the ceremony over the dispute over the national anthem.

However, on Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles team gathered at the South Lawn to celebrate their victory in Super Bowl LIX.
“It’s an honor to be with this incredible group of champions, great team, and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone to the White House, it’s a special place to celebrate the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles,” Trump said.
“That was a special day, that was a big one. But the Eagles have turned out to be an incredible team, with an incredible group with a fantastic coach and coaches and having you at the White House is very, very special and important, and we appreciate you being here.”

As per reports, the MVP of Super Bowl LIX, Hurts, missed the visit due to “scheduling conflicts.”
Trump, however, did not stop praising Hurts for his performance.
“Complimenting Saquon’s historic season was an incredible year for star quarterback Jalen Hurts,” Trump said. “He had a great season and a great game. He finished with 32 touchdowns on the year, turning in one stellar performance after another. A terrific guy and a terrific player.”
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who was at the White House, had earlier clarified that the visit was “optional” for players.
Trump takes a dig at Swift
Meanwhile, Trump also took a dig at pop sensation Taylor Swift while honouring the Eagles players. While speaking about the Super Bowl LIX victory, Trump said: “From the first quarter of the big game, I was there, I watched in person. I was there along with Taylor Swift. How did that work out? How did that one work out?”
Remember, Swift was jeered by fans at the Super Bowl.
Trump had also made his feelings clear about Swift last year on social media after the music sensation supported then-Vice President Kamala Harris for president. He had written, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” in a post on Truth Social.
