New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday dismissed BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi’s contention that the JD(U) dumped the BJP in Bihar as Kumar’s ambition of becoming the vice president were not fulfilled, saying that the claims were all bogus and that he had no such desire. “You heard a man (Sushil Modi) say that I wanted to be vice president. What a joke! It’s bogus. I had no such desire. Have they forgotten how much did our party support them in presidential and vice presidential elections?” asked the Bihar chief minister.
Sushil Modi had on Wednesday alleged that Kumar wanted to become the vice president and he dumped the BJP after the party failed to accommodate his ambitions. The former deputy CM’s charge was rebutted by Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan, national president of Kumar’s JD(U), who also mocked Modi as a leader abandoned by the roadside by his own party as a punishment for close relations he had with Nitish Kumar. A day after snapping ties with the BJP-led NDA and joining hands with the RJD to form a ‘Mahagathbandhan’ government, Kumar on Wednesday took oath as Bihar chief minister for a record eighth time in a no-frills ceremony at Raj Bhavan.
