According to ABP Exit Poll 2019, BJP and its allies are predicted to win 24 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 19 seats in Rajasthan and six seats in Chhattisgarh. Congress on the other hand may win 5, 6, and five seats in the three states, respectively. However, there had been a shift of power from BJP to Congress in many of the Assembly segments in these constituencies after the Assembly election in 2018. The BJP had won 56 of the 66 seats in the Malwa-Nimar region in 2013 Assembly election, but in 2018, it could win only 21. The Congress won 35. In Rajasthan, the polling took place over two phases with the first 13 seats of the state going for polls on 29 April (phase 4) and the remaining 12 seats on 5 May (phase 5) of the polls. Two former Olympians, a former IAS officer and a former IPS officer are among the candidates whose fate will be decided by voters. Jaipur Rural, Bikaner, Dausa, Alwar are some of the keenly watched constituencies among the 12 seats. Former Olympians Rajyavardhan Rathore, union minister of state, and Krishna Poonia are in contest in Jaipur rural constituency. While the sitting MP Rathore is banking on the Modi factor and highlighted national security as the key issue, Congress MLA Poonia questioned works done by Rathore. In Chhattisgarh, polling in the 11 Parliamentary seats took place over three phases starting from 11 April, the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls, when only one seat — Bastar — went to polls. Voters had exercised their franchise in Naxal-affected regions of Dantewada and Sukma amid heavy security on 11 April. A joint party of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Chhattisgarh Police came under a Naxal ambush in the early hours of the day while on their way to a polling booth. The remaining 10 seats voted on 18 April (3 seats in Naxal-affected areas) and 23 April (seven seats). Two Naxals were killed by security forces while polling was underway in three constituencies in Chhattisgarh, namely Kanker, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund in phase 2 of polls in the state. News18 IPSOS Exit Poll predicts clean sweep for BJP in Phase 1 of Lok Sabha polls
News18-IPSOS has released the first set of numbers. The pollster has given the NDA an edge in the first phase of the seven-phased polling exercise. News18’s survey predicted that the NDA may get 38 to 42 seats, while the Congress my win four to six seats. Others, which includes the SP-BSP alliance as well may bag 44 to 46 seats. A total of 91 Lok Sabha cosntituencies had polled across 18 states and two Union Territories in phase one of the Lok Sabha polls. From Chhattisgarh, Bastar was the only Lok Sabha seat which had voted in phase one of the election.

Polling concludes: Madhya Pradesh records 69.38% till 6 pm
In the final phase of Lok Sabha polls, Madhya Pradesh recorded a voter turnout of 69.38%. The state had recorded 74.9%, 69.14 percent and 65.24 percent turnout in the last three phases of Lok Sabha polls. Polling concluded in Maharashtra today.
News18-IPSOS exit poll: Methodology
To predict the number of seats likely to be won by each party or alliance, a total of 199 parliamentary constituencies were selected out of 543. Within the parliamentary constituencies, 796 Assembly constituencies were selected, and 4,776 individual polling station areas were selected for conducting interviews.
In each polling station, around 25 voters were randomly selected depending on the terrain and voter turnouts in that particular polling station. A total of 1,21,542 voters were interviewed from 199 parliamentary constituencies. Multi-sampling process was adopted for the selection of parliamentary constituencies, Assembly constituencies and polling stations.
EC says 67.37% voting in seven-phased elections
At a press conference, the Election Commission said that polling has concluded in 542 parliamentary constituencies across states and Union Territories. Across the seven-phased mammoth electoral exercise, a voter turnout of 67.37 percent was recorded, India Today reported.
The poll panel said that a total of 7.27 crore voters took part in elections of which 3.47 crore were women and 3,377 were persons of third gender.
In Maoist-affected Chhattisgarh, Congres hope to maintain gains in Assembly polls
Rich in coal mines, Chhattisgarh is home to 16 percent of the total coal deposits of the country, and is also one of the wors-affected by Maoists in the country. Thirty percent of the state’s population belong to Scheduled Tribes and 12.8 percent belong to Scheduled Castes. An overwhelming 76.8 percent live in rural areas.
In the 2018 Assembly election, Congress knocked off the ruling BJP in the state elections and won 68 out of 90 seats. The former chief minister and BJP leader Raman Singh took responsibility for the defeat and resigned. The grand old party is likely to ride on last year’s feat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Madhya Pradesh has a significant tribal population as well as numerically superior OBC communities. These two factors are likely to play a major role in determining the fate of the two parties.
Congress hopes to win 20 seats in Madhya Pradesh
In Madhya Pradesh, the electoral fight is between the BJP and the Congress. Last time, BJP swept the Lok Sabha elections, winning 27 out of the 29 seats. The only saving graces for Congress were Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kamal Nath. However, the political situation has changed in the state. After a 15-year-long exile, Congress came to power after the recently-concluded Assembly elections. Buoyed by the success, the Kamal Nath-led Congress is targeting to win at least 20 seats.
Main contest between Congress, BJP in Rajasthan, but small parties could play spoilsport
While the main contenders in the state are BJP and Congress, smaller parties such as the BTP and BSP are likely to only play spoilsport and create a dent in certain pockets of the state. Caste also plays a crucial role in determining election results in the state. The exit polls may show if the anti-incumbency wave of the Assembly election will have an impact on the Lok Sabha elections in the state.
