What do Justin Trudeau, Hamas fanboys and Whoopi ‘Woke’ Goldberg have in common?

The Left’s favourite way to stop an argument is to evoke Adolf Hitler. An American attorney called Mike Godwin had in fact made a case that the longer an online discussion stretches, the probability of a comparison with the Nazis increases. It is not known as Godwin’s law. But the latest Israel-Palestine conflict grows bloodier after Hamas’s belief-defying barbarism on October 7, a deep paradox has resurfaced again. Global anti-democracy allies Leftist and Islamists are much emotionally and ideologically much closer to the Nazis than they would admit, and in violently polarised times like this, they occasionally let slip their admiration for the Fuhrer and his men. A number of online handles and pro-Palestine street protesters in the West — from the streets of London to US campuses like Harvard — have gone as far as to justify the Holocaust and claim that the millions of murdered Jews deserved it.

One of them, the Oxford-educated Pakistani senator Afnan Ullah Khan even shared the photo of Adolf Hitler saying the world now knows “why he did what he did”. Khan deleted the post which had a portrait of the Nazi leader in military uniform, including a hakenkreuz or crooked cross armband, after a storm of disgust and outrage.

Other Islamist politicians like Suleyman Sezen, Turkish politician from Tayyip Erdogan’s party, joined the Hitler fan club, exhorting that every single Jew be killed.

But this open glorification of one of the world’s worst genocides failed to draw a word of condemnation from the global Left. Perhaps unsurprisingly. There are two reasons for this. First, the largely unelectable global Left draws its street power from Islam. Islamists are the communists’ and socialists’ biggest ally against democracies and open societies. Second, because icons of the Left have committed genocides as horrific and sometimes even worse than the Nazis. The Leftist pantheon of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, Che Guavara, Ceaușescu and others have killed over a hundred million people between them through gulags, firing squads and man-made famines. Hitler’s Nazi party — Nationalsozialismus or National Socialism — was avowedly ‘socialist’. No wonder Leftist and autocratic Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau — who crushed anti-vaccine mandate protests by invoking the Emergencies Act and jailing and brutalising thousands — eventually ended up honouring a Nazi in Parliament. While hosting Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trudeau feted in the House and called a hero a Polish-born Ukrainian named Yaroslav Hunka, who served in one of Hitler’s Waffen SS units during World War II and later emigrated to Canada. With the entire nation’s intel unit at his disposal, it is hard to believe that Trudeau did not know the guy’s background. His government has actively turned Canada into a nursery of extremists like Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist who was caught twice trying to enter Canada and getting citizenship with fake papers. The Left, in particular the far-Left wokes, have failed to hide their admiration for Hitler as well. In January 2022, for instance, Hollywood actor Whoopi Goldberg said the Holocaust was “not about race”. “It wasn’t originally” about race, Goldberg said in an interview to the Sunday Times, UK. “Remember who they were killing first. They were not killing racial; they were killing physical.” Goldberg supported taking down an Abraham Lincoln statue by Black Lives Matter protesters. She had also used a derogatory term for gypsies or the Romany people while discussing former US president Donald Trump. “People still believe that he got gypped somehow in the election,” she had said, comparing gypsies with thieves. There is a strong, underlying reason why the Nazi thought and actions resonate with Leftists and Islamists. The notions of racial supremacy that Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini championed is already manifested in the ideas of ideological purity in Communism and religious superiority in Islamism. These ideologies breed the same kind of hate, othering, intolerance, and ultimately violence towards the rest of humanity. And Israeli retaliation in Gaza to the blood spilled in its kibbutz is bringing out the carefully hidden bile in the open. The author is contributing editor, Firstpost.
