Imagine for a moment, that you were born in a region that is technically called a Crush Zone. Geopolitical pundits, apparently in their profound wisdom, but critically evaluating, perhaps due to affinity for their respective choice of superpowers, have always used such terms to subtly groom their patrons to create designs on different regions. What that translates for you — an average citizen, is that there are expanding powers across both your sides and your country/region is to be crushed sooner or later, depending on when these powers decide to expand unilaterally or fight each other to establish their access and control over your region. Finally, when that moment arrives, after bloodbath, trauma, and the inevitable pain of multiple partitions, you are trifurcated (actually more than three parts; but that is not relevant here). Your people remain scattered in different volumes of minorities, in two – now hostile — out of the three regions. You manage to retain a majority in the third. These two hostile regions then begin regular pogroms against your people. Your people are in minority there; they are adherents of a faith that the Abrahamic masters of the unipolar world think belongs to lesser humans; and all of you speak a language and carry a culture that the same masters consider a blight if allowed to flourish. So, the unipolar hegemon nudges these two newly ‘independent’ regions to carry out more and more such pogroms against your people. They demonstrate their ‘support’ by propping up Nazis militia or Wahhabi Islamists – paying them, transporting them, supplying them with weapons and money. For your country, the hegemon pushes its financial wing to effect ‘economic restructuring’. What that means is that a large number of your people would starve to death in the near future; the ones that stay alive would be right-less and property-less slaves to the Empire. Your people in those two regions also have a choice: between Nazi death squads and Islamist death squads. In a final act of desperation, you take up arms. You are too weak by now to reclaim anything – lost land, or lost pride. You merely arm yourself to survive. What you are not supposed to know is that this is exactly what the hegemon wanted all along. This is why they orchestrated the rape-murder of your people by the Nazi-Wahhabi squads: for you to react. So, they fly their fighter planes and they bomb you non-stop for more than two months at a stretch. They fly about 40,000 sorties, drop over 20,000 bombs, kill thousands of your men, women, and children wherever you are in the now Balkanised region; they use weapons considered criminal by international law — like toxic nerve gases; surface mines, which they drop with parachutes; they drop bombs containing uranium, black napalm, and sterilisation chemicals; they also spray chemicals to poison your crops and make sure you starve if you escaped their air-strikes. At the same time, they unleash their paid media to call you and your people genocidal maniacs and bloodthirsty savages; you are a people that want everything to themselves (including the two newly ‘independent’ states), so they had to intervene to put a stop to your murderous plans. If you thought that the saga of your suffering ends there, hold on, because it doesn’t. Those of you who survive it all — the bombs, the chemical poisoning, the ignominy of media villainization, sanctions, joblessness, and poverty — now look at future coups, colour revolutions, and sell-out leaders, as you wonder during lazy moments about the kind of misfortune a ‘crush zone’ is, or where and how does it all end. This, in a nutshell, is the tragedy of Yugoslavia and its unfortunate successor state Serbia. This juggernaut of a West-organised calamity — largely ignored by the world — is sure to find some understanding and compassion among Indian readers because of the sheer number of similarities. For starters, the trauma of the 1947 partition orchestrated by the British — an unfinished business which manifests through the still ongoing persecution of Hindu minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh, and the serial indifference of Indian leadership towards the same up until now. Then, like India, Yugoslavia was a NAM member and a socialist state. And like the US took an interest in India, and a lack of reciprocation made it turn to Pakistan (and later China) to destroy the subcontinent, the US took an interest in Yugoslavia too, only to Balkanise it and destroy it later. Then, like the West nudged Pakistan to unleash Islamic radicalism in Kashmir, the West did the same in Bosnia and Croatia, on the Bosnian and Croatian Serbs respectively (they would butcher ethnic Russian speakers the same way in eastern Ukraine from 2014 till Putin decided to launch the SMO). Other interesting commonalities include religion and its reception. The Serbs (they are the official leftover of erstwhile Yugoslavia) are Orthodox or ‘Eastern’ Christians affiliated with the Orthodox Churches of Russia and Greece. That, in the eyes of the West, is a crime. Any contact with Russia — real or imagined — is a crime; by that virtue, all the followers of Eastern Christendom are to be treated like sub-humans. That includes for instance Greeks, Middle Eastern Christians, Armenians – any ethnicity that can be linked with the Eastern Churches. This should also give the readers an idea why the West has been completely apathetic to the rape-murder of thousands of Yezidi or Aramaic Christians by ISIS in the Middle East or has looked the other way when Turkey organised the Armenian genocide and the rape-murder of thousands of Greeks and Cypriots. So, like the way the West has been on an overdrive to dilute India’s Hindu roots through the encouragement of porous borders, illegal immigration of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, and mass evangelism and promotion of Christian political parties, they have been trying the same in Serbia too — by pushing their choice of leaders, coercing him to play into the hands of EU/NATO agenda to overrun the country, and orchestrating colour revolutions whenever the leader falls out of favour (Serbia has had more than one colour revolution — a rare distinction). Finally, there is the media. Let us consider a passage of the Saker: “Besides a massive bombing and cruise missile strikes campaign, the Empire also unleashed the biggest propaganda campaign in history, presenting the Serbs as vicious, crazed, nationalist and sadistic mass murderers and all their enemies as progressive, freedom-loving, democratic and heroic civilians who only had light weapons to resist the massive onslaught of Serbian heavy weapons. The narrative then further hyped the vilification by speaking of Serbian “concentration camps” and massive “ethnic cleansing” campaigns which included “rape as a weapon of war.” Finally, and logically, the Anglo-Zionists concluded that Milosevic was the “new Hitler” and that the Serbs were engaging in genocide.” The world bought these wretched stories at the time. It helped the Western media that the internet was still a thing of the future. They could get away easily by suppressing the parts where Croat Nazi gangs (like the Nazi militia of Ukraine today) roamed around rape-murdering Serbian minorities, or how their paymasters in the West were facilitating movements of Wahhabi terrorists to Bosnia (the Bosnian government even provided them with passports) to mass murder Bosnian Serbs, or the more damning fact that the Croats and Bosnian Muslims were considered the worst collaborators of Hitler, while whatever resistance that the WWII Nazis faced in the Balkans were chiefly Slav and Greek in nature. Today, we see the same vilification of the BJP and the majority of Indians by the Western press. From ‘Hindu intolerance’ to ‘Modi is a fascist’, from ‘BJP facilitating genocide of Indian Muslims’ to taking out various bogus rankings about Press Freedom etc, from unleashing their toolkit gang to cascade riots and different other forms of civilian unrest, to villainizing nationalist Hindu characters from our history, they have been trying non-stop since the last almost ten years now to orchestrate a civil war in India. Of course, it wasn’t always like this. The Empire had achieved a fair degree of success during the last six or seven decades in diluting the Indic identity, loosening the civilizational roots, Westernizing the metro/upper-middle-class population, subverting the politician-bureaucratic network, pushing Western Christianity through organised conversions, and establishing firm control over the media and academia. It was only after the present government came to power and a large section of common Indians equated this government as the last hope for Indian Hindus that upset the organized cartel that was being run by the Empire; they lost their composure and turned impatient and tactless. The difference between the Balkans and India, as the Empire has come to realise by now, is that their colour revolutions handbook has proven to be ineffective in the subcontinent. There are several factors; some of them quite unsurmountable as of now, even for the mighty West. They would keep trying of course; but there are two things to consider: One, the Empire is waning; and two, they consider the BJP to be the last hope for the Indian Hindus (it is not). Indic consciousness has begun its ascent among the minds of common Indians; it would soon be out of bounds for any single leader, party or institution to influence it, tamper with it, or slow it down. Hope the Serbians too embrace their origins in preparations for their future, however tough that might be. Staying true matters.
