New Delhi: Members of Delhi Youth Congress and party’s councillors protested against the BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation here over several issues, including the alleged non-payment of pensions to widows and senior citizens. Several hundred Youth Congress members assembled at the gate of the Civic Centre, headquarters of the NDMC, and raised slogans against the civic body. Some of the safai karmacharis have also not been paid salaries for past few months,” Goel alleged. The Congress councillors initially raised slogans against the corporation and later “trooped the Well” of the House “disrupting its proceedings”. “We lodged our protest by raising the issues in the House. BJP, which had promised so many things before the elections, now has stopped doing development-related works. We can all see, where are the ‘acche din’ (good days now),” Goel further alleged. The Congress youth members’ protest also disrupted traffic movement for a while on the Minto Road and its adjoining streets, he said. PTI
