Rape accused Asaram Bapu compares Aiims nurse's cheeks to 'juicy Kashmiri apples'

Speaking in metaphors and similes, the 75-year-old self-styled ‘godman’ and rape accused, Asaram Bapu, who is currently admitted at Aiims for medical examination, embarrassed a nurse by likening her with butter and her cheeks to juicy Kashmiri apples, reported Dainak Bhaskar. According to the report, the nurse had brought Asaram bread and butter before his checkup. As she entered, the self-styled godman said, “Why is there a need to bring butter with the bread when you are as soft as butter? You must be from Kashmir because your cheeks are as red as Kashmiri apples and tomatoes.” Trying to be poetic here, are we? Fail. This has just added another feather in the controversial Bapu’s embarrassment cap. [caption id=“attachment_2118265” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]A file image of Asaram. PTI A file image of Asaram. PTI[/caption] Asaram’s comments on Delhi gangrape are as twisted as his ongoing case. Although he didn’t use metaphors, he said that Jyoti Singh, the victim, “should have taken God’s name and could have held the hand of one of the men and said ‘I consider you as my brother’, and should have said to the other two ‘Brother I am helpless, you are my brother, my religious brother.” Recently, while boarding a Delhi-bound Jet Airways flight, Asaram and his supporters had reportedly created a ruckus and delayed the flight by two hours by shouting slogans and refusing to be seated, reported Economic Times. The Supreme Court had on 29 August allowed Asaram to be taken to Aiims Delhi from Jodhpur jail for medical examination. The order had come after a three-member panel of doctors from Aiims informed the apex court that requisite equipment for evaluation of Asaram’s medical condition were not there in Jodhpur jail and he needed to be brought to the institute for proper check up. On 11 August, the apex court had denied interim bail to Asaram in a rape case and directed Aiims to set up a medical board to ascertain his health condition before taking up his regular bail plea. In 2013, a teenage girl had filed a police complaint against Asaram of sexual assault between 1997 and 2006 when she was staying in his ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. Her younger sister had filed a separate complaint against Asaram’s son Narayan Sai, accusing him of repeated sexual assault between 2002 and 2005 when she was living in his Surat ashram. Asaram was arrested by Jodhpur Police on 31 August, 2013 and has been in jail since then. With inputs from PTI
