'Yogi Adityanath threw me out of his office': Dalit BJP MP alleges discrimination by Uttar Pradesh chief minister

A Dalit BJP MP has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and alleged that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath misbehaved with him, according to a report in  NDTV . Chhote Lal Kharwar, a Dalit MP who represents Uttar Pradesh’s Robertsganj constituency in Parliament, wrote a letter to Modi, and said that he met Adityanath twice but was “scolded and thrown out” of his office. Kharwar also named state BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey and another BJP leader Sunil Bansal in his complaint, claimed he was being discriminated against in his constituency, and his complaints were not being heard by his party. He also alleged that his political opponents in Chandauli district were given more importance by senior party state leaders. He also said that senior police and district officials were discriminating against him because he is a Dalit. BJP has not commented on Kharwar’s complaint; party state general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak told DNA, “I have no idea.” This is the second complaint against Adityanath this week. A young man on Wednesday alleged that Adityanath pushed him away when he went to him with a petition about a land grabbing matter. Ayush Singhal claimed Adityanath literally heckled him at his ‘Janata Darbaar’ when he told him that his 22-acre land was grabbed by legislator Amanmani Tripathi, who has been convicted in the Madhumita Shukla murder case. “I went to the chief minister. But instead of hearing me out, he pushed me aside and threw the file away,” Singhal alleged. The letter comes only days after Dalit groups launched vociferous protests throughout the country as part of a ‘Bharat bandh’ agitation. The protests were held to oppose a recent Supreme Court ruling that there should be no immediate arrest of public servants under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The protests turned violent in some parts of the country, with eight people losing their lives.
