Commenting on the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “Yesterday was a golden moment of India’s Parliamentary journey.” “All the members of this House deserve that golden moment…Yesterday’s decision and today when we cross the last mile after Rajya Sabha (passing of the Bill today), the transformation in the face of women power of the country, the trust that will be formed will emerge as an unimaginable and unprecedented power that will take the country to new heights,” PM Modi said in Lok Sabha as he thanked lawmakers for voting in favour of the bill.
Following this, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal tabled the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Rajya Sabha. The historic bill was passed in Lok Sabha on day 3 of the Special Parliament Session. It will now undergo another litmus test today in Rajya Sabha before formally becoming a law. The bill secured 454 votes in favour and only two votes against it. This is a developing story.
