Woman burnt alive by husband, in-laws for dowry in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar: A 35-year-old woman was burnt alive by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands at Lachera village here, police said. PTI[/caption] The woman is identified as Nutan, police said, adding, according to an FIR filed by the victim’s father, her husband Sidharth and mother-in-law Chader Devi were harassing her for dowry. When the victim refused to oblige, they poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze on Wednesday, they said. A case has been registered against Sidharth and his mother who are currently absconding and the body has been sent for post-mortem. In an another incident, a 30-year-old man committed suicide by setting himself on fire over a dispute with his wife at Barla village in the district. Rajkamal took the extreme step on Wednesday, police said, adding, the body has been sent for post-mortem. PTI
