'With 40-45 cr people at Mahakumbh, India to offer a new economic mantra to the world': Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that the Mahakumbh will contribute as much as 10 per cent of the state’s GDP.

In an exclusive interview with News18, Yogi said, “What you will witness in the next 45 days, is expected to contribute at least Rs 2 lakh crore to Uttar Pradesh’s economy. Through this, Uttar Pradesh is presenting a new economic model to India and the world.”

He added, “We expect 40-45 crore devotees to take the holy dip in the Maha Kumbh… UP and India will give a new economic principle to the world.”

The chief minister said that Rs 75 crore has been spent not only on organising the event but has also been used for connecting roads, and highways leading to Prayagraj, railway stations, airports, and the systematic development of the city.

When asked about the participation of youth in the Mahakumbh Mela this year, Yogi said, “The most remarkable thing about the Mahakumbh is that India’s young generation constitutes a significant proportion of our population. The earlier concept of the Kumbh, as envisioned by the previous governments, was limited to being an event for the elderly.”

He added, “For the first time, due to Prime Minister Modi Ji’s vision, the Kumbh has been linked with cleanliness, order, and security. This is why the event can now be organised on such a grand scale. Naturally, when faith is combined with modernity, it will attract the youth.”

The chief minister noted that people from all walks of life, be they entrepreneurs or doctors, the youth is drawn to the Mahakumbh.

“You must have also observed not only tourists and devotees from across India but also from around the world participated. It wasn’t just Hindus or followers of Sanatan Dharma; even non-Hindus came, took a dip in the Sangam, and were overwhelmed with admiration,” he further said.
