Who was Delhi's 'most wanted' Neetu Dabodia? All you need to know

Delhi’s most wanted criminal Neetu Dabodia was killed in a police shootout near Hyatt Hotel near the Vasant Kunj area in south Delhi late on Thursday. Delhi Police said that Dabodia’s henchman Alok Gupta and another member of the gang have also been killed in the encounter. Here is more about Dabodia and why he was Delhi’s most wanted criminal: - Surendra Malik alias Neetu Dabodia reportedly ran a criminal racket the extended across states in north India and stretched as far as Gujarat, says this report from the Times of India - There was a reward of Rs one lakh that police had announced for information regarding the gangster and he topped the list of the Delhi Police’s most wanted criminals. - He was wanted in over 50 cases of murder, extortion and kidnapping   [caption id=“attachment_1193301” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Representational image. PTI[/caption] - According to this detailed profile of the gangster on Indian Express, Dabodia studied up to class ten but he dropped out of school and became a jeep conductor. He was arrested in 2010. - Dabodia was unique in how he carried out his gang’s operations since he would never use mobile phones and preferred to write to associates and targets. - Even while lodged in Haryana’s Bhondsi jail after his arrest in 2010, Dabodia, who hails from Jhajjar, was running his extortion racket by arranging for weapons, vehicles and other material for the gang members. - The gangster also managed to evade the police consistently because of his knowledge of how they worked and their network of informers, according to this Indian Express report. - Dabodia was being taken to Saket court in Delhi from Bhondsi Jail in April 2012 when he and his associates managed to escape. - After the escape the gangster was allegedly involved in the murder of Head Constable Ram Kishen on 25 November, 2012 after the constable stopped a car in which the gangster was travelling. Fearing that he would be caught the gangster shot at the police official and killed him. - The gangster had a run in with the police on 18 February this year in which he was reportedly injured after being fired at. The gangster was almost trapped by a team of the Delhi Police Special Cell and Punjab Police. An aide was shot and injured. Dabodia allegedly managed to escape by running into some nearby fields.
