After meeting PM Modi, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said it wasn’t a formal meeting at all and it was a good and lively.
“…He was certainly very pleasant to all of us. He saw this as an opportunity to thank the delegations for their service, and he was very pleasant and spent more than an hour with all of us. He walked around the lawn to different tables, talking to different groups of people. We all chatted with him in an informal way. It wasn’t a formal meeting at all. It was a good, lively, informal meeting,” said Tharoor.

“Even those of us who had given him our reports on the trip did not present those reports. We all shared many things with him, and with time, it will be apparent. A general proposition I noticed was that every country said it was a very good idea for Members of Parliament to visit them. We all suggested that we should make this a practice more often. The PM certainly seem to take that idea onboard,” he added.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP and delegation member Priyanka Chaturvedi said the PM listened to their experiences very carefully.

“We shared our experience with the PM, which he listened to carefully,” she said.
AIMIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, however, did not attend the multi-party delegation meeting with PM Modi.
In a phone conversation with ANI, he said, “I am out of the country. I had to go to Dubai due to a medical emergency. I had to go suddenly due to the ill health of my relative and childhood friend. I had informed my delegation leader Baijayant Panda about this.”
Seven multi-party delegations, comprising leaders from across the political spectrum —including Opposition MPs Supriya Sule (NCP-SCP), Shashi Tharoor (Congress), AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi — as well as former ambassadors, concluded their diplomatic outreach to various global capitals.
The delegations were part of a coordinated effort to promote India’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
The initiative was launched in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
Following Operation Sindoor, India launched an extensive diplomatic outreach involving more than 50 individuals who visited over 30 countries to promote India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
Seven parliamentary delegations, each led by a sitting MP, spearheaded the initiative.
BJP’s Baijayant Panda led the first group, which visited Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria. The second group, under the leadership of BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, traveled across the UK, France, Germany, the European Union, Italy, and Denmark. JD(U) leader Sanjay Kumar Jha headed the third group, which engaged with counterparts in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Singapore.
The fourth delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, visited the UAE, Liberia, Congo, and Sierra Leone.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor led the fifth group to the United States, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, and Colombia. The sixth group, under DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, visited Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia. The seventh and final group, led by Supriya Sule of the NCP-SCP, held meetings in Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
In their discussions abroad, the delegations presented India’s firm stance against terrorism and highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing support for terrorist networks operating against India.
They urged governments to recognise Pakistan’s role and advocated for its re-listing on the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list.
The diplomatic outreach followed India’s precision strikes conducted under Operation Sindoor on the morning of May 7, targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The operation was launched in direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people.
In the aftermath of the Indian strikes, Pakistan launched retaliatory attempts to target Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. In response, Indian forces carried out a robust counter-offensive, striking several Pakistani military installations.
After four days of intense cross-border drone and missile exchanges, both countries reached an understanding on May 10 to de-escalate and bring the hostilities to an end.
