Inspired by the Bollywood film Chhaava, a group of locals gathered near the Asirgarh Fort in Burhanpur and began a treasure hunt, believing Mughal-era gold lay buried beneath the site.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, with netizens reacting with amusement and humour.

In the viral video, a large number of locals armed with flashlights and digging tools can be seen gathering at the scene, digging at night in the hopes of uncovering hidden gold.

However, their mission was cut short when the police arrived.

Asirgarh Fort is a site of historical significance, often linked to Mughal Emperor Akbar and later legends of hidden riches of the Mughals loots during campaigns on Marathas.  

The recent film Chhaava appears to have reignited these age-old tales, prompting locals to try their luck at uncovering lost treasure.

Chhaava is an Indian historical action film directed by Laxman Utekar. It portrays the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, with Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.
