Mangaluru Accident: Woman mowed down on footpath - Watch

In a hit-and-run case, a 57-year-old businessman ran over a woman and injured four other people who were strolling along the sidewalk. The incident captured in a street CCTV camera, occurred Wednesday afternoon in Gandhinagar area of Mangaluru city. The accused was identified by the police as Kamalesh Baldev, son of H.M. Baldev who happens to be commission and real estate agent, of Shivam Apartments, Alake. The deceased woman was identified as 23-year-old Roopashree, a resident of Kaana, near Surathkal. The injured women and daughters, Swathi, 26, Hithnavi, 16, Krithika, 16, and Yathika, 12, were not in danger.

When the incident occurred, according to the police, the women were strolling along Kuloor Ferry Road’s walkway from Kudroli toward Lady Hill Circle in front of S.L. Shet Jewellers in Gandhinagar. The defendant allegedly drove the automobile carelessly while traveling in the same way, ascended onto the sidewalk, and struck the women. He drove off, leaving the area without stopping the vehicle. He went home and met his father at the Traffic West Police Station after leaving the automobile in front of a workshop, according to the police. The women were struck by the car, according to CCTV evidence of the collision, and were then flung into the air, lying strewn across the sidewalk. They were reported to be on their way back from seeing the Dussehra celebrations at the Kudroli Temple. Even though Roopashri was brought to a hospital, she passed away from severe injuries. In accordance with Section 304(A) and other pertinent provisions of the Indian Penal Code, police have filed cases involving reckless and careless acts that result in death. Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal stated that if required, the police would add more sections and have him tested for drunk driving.
