Villagers in Madhya Pradesh got to witness a real time version of Man vs Wild after a local man fought off a leopard attack armed only with a stick. The dramatic fight captured on camera, shows the man, identified as Balram, a watchman from the village, attack the wild cat after it had supposedly strayed over to a residential area the  Times of India reported. [caption id=“attachment_2220882” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] A screengrab from the video A screengrab from the video[/caption] The incident occured in Olani village, about four kilometers from Manpur town in Mhow tehsil in the Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. The video shows Balram taking the leopard head on and fighting it single-handedly for almost a minute before the animal fled. The brave man managed to keep the animal contained, striking two blows on its head, in the process. At one point, it seemed that the leopard had overpowered the man as he hit the ground. However, he continued to brandish his stick at the animal, forcing it to run away.

The entire spectacle was watched by a group of villagers and was even filmed, yet it is appalling to see that not one person came forward to help Balram, not even after he had fallen down. Incidents of wild animals attacking humans, who have arguably intruded into their habitat, have been on the rise and raise questions of whether the government needs to rethink policy on human habitations specially in forest areas.
