A giant cake shaped like a toilet and weighing more than 1500 lbs was unveiled in New Delhi as part of the International Toilet Festival. ‘World Toilet Day’ was celebrated on 19 November, as an initiative to raise awareness of the need for clean sanitation. Despite the human right to water and sanitation, of the world’s seven billion people, 2.5 billion people do not have access to toilets. UN-Water in collaboration with governments and relevant stakeholders takes responsibility for promoting sanitation as aglobal development priority.
