The case revolves around a land dispute involving farmer Ashok Tyagi from Khandavali village in Kharkhoda. Allegedly, the police, in collaboration with other parties, have been accused of harassing Ashok and his family. When the police first arrived in the village on Tuesday night, they found nothing incriminating. However, when Ankit left the house, a pistol mysteriously appeared on his bike. It is suspected that the pistol was planted to implicate Ashok’s son. Ankit was taken into custody, and an Arms Act case was filed. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. Later, in an another video, two women pleaded for their brother’s release outside Meerut IG Nachiketa Jha’s residence on the night of September 26th. They held a child in their arms and requested to meet the IG but were denied access. The incident, captured on video, has been widely shared on social media. The two women can be seen outside IG Meerut Nachiketa Jha’s office, with one holding a child. They repeatedly request to speak to the officer, claiming their brother is being falsely accused by the police. After some time, a security guard contacts someone via mobile phone and hands it over to the woman. The woman on the phone desperately pleads, “Hello, Sir…Sir, you must have seen the video. Sir, we are in distress. The police have placed a weapon with our family member. They are going to our house and assaulting us. We are outside with our children.” She breaks down in tears. The other woman adds, “Please, Sir, release our brother. We are the ones who have him. Sir, the recording is on the DVR. We have evidence on our phone.” Afterward, the phone is returned to the security guard. Ankit Tyagi, a youth studying for the IAS, was arrested late on Tuesday night. His sister, Rakhi Tyagi, revealed, “My four-year-old child is in the hospital with a 103-degree fever. We have been standing outside IG Sahib’s office since 1 a.m. We are not being heard, and no action is being taken. The police are targeting us. We want to meet the officer, but they won’t let us. The SO has accused us of misbehavior. The CO keeps demanding the DVR. We will only give it to a senior officer.” IG Nachiketa Jha responded, saying, “The women came with their complaint in the morning. Based on their complaint, a thorough investigation is underway, led by senior-ranking police officers. We will take appropriate action based on the investigation’s findings.”
