Alert North Bengal Frontier has combatted trans-border crime as it successfully carried out a unique operation using night vision drone camera and managed to rescue three cattle from smugglers on the Indo-Bangladesh border. The Border Security Forces (BSF) has released the video clip of the successful interception demonstrating the effectiveness of the system.

These drones come fitted with night vision capabilities and are said to help fight against trans-border criminals, who often take advantage of darkness to engage in smuggling, human trafficking, and other illegal activities. The cutting-edge drone technology equipped with night vision capabilities was successfully employed by the North Bengal Frontier of the BSF in September this year. The central armed police force called the deployment a “ground-breaking development" to thwart the nefarious activities of trans-border criminals. India shares a porous border with neighbouring Bangladesh. For several years, there has been reports of illegal cross-border activities. The BSF troops of the North Bengal Frontier frequently bust the trans-border criminal network and seize illegal items. In September this year, a BSF soldier rescued five calves from trans-border smugglers and also seized 1.5 kg of cannabis as well as other illegal items worth over Rs 4 lakh from the Indo-Bangladesh border. In another drug bust, alert troops of BSF seized 2 kg of cannabis and other illicit items intended to be smuggled across the border from the Indo-Bangladesh border. With inputs from agencies
