Vigilance officials today raided the premises of three police officials who served as personal security officers to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
The properties of the individuals were raided in in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
The properties raided by the vigilance and anti-corruption officials are those bought by a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and two police inspectors who served as personal security officers to Karunanidhi during his tenure.
Vigilance officials are carrying out searches at 6 locations including the properties of the officers– Pandian, Ganesan and Vinothan– and of the people who allegedly bought the properties from them.
The police officials had bought Tamil Nadu Housing Board plots allotted in Mogappair under the government discretionary quota (GDQ) in 2008.
This is the latest in a series of raids on those in the DMK on allegations of illegal assets and landgrabbing since the AIADMK came to power last year.
Vigilance officials had earlier conducted raids at the houses of 12 former DMK ministers, J Anbazhagan, MLA and former legislator B Ranganathan.
