Zohal Hamid, the US national who has accused cricketer Luke Pomersbach of molestation and assault, has said that the cricketer made an unprovoked attack on her fiancé and despite constant pleas received no assistance from the hotel staff. Hamid said she and fiancé Sahil Peerzada had gone for the IPL match that evening after which they decided to go for a post match party with some friends. He came to the room with us and Sahil could not say no to him. He said let him have a drink and then he will leave,” she said. When she attempted to leave the room, Pomersbach allegedly acted in an inappropriate manner causing Peerzada to intervene. The cricketer then allegedly began punching him and after being hit multiple times, Peerzada fell unconscious on the floor with blood streaming out of his ears. “I thought he’s knocked him out and now he’s going to beat me,” Hamid said, adding that she ran out of the room and didn’t enter the room again until she saw Pomersbach leave. Following the incident, she said she made multiple calls to the hotel management seeking assistance but none arrived despite promises that police officials were on their way. She finally called the police on her own. “The hotel manager said you don’t know who these guys are. Let him (Peerzada) sleep and in the morning we can see if you want to take it further,” Hamid said. She alleged that Indian cricketer KP Appanna had later accompanied Pomersbach to the room and asked if Sidhartha Mallya was in there. However, Hamid said she slammed the door in their face and later took her fiancé to the hospital with the police.
