Union Minister Amit Shah on Friday revealed BJP’s plan in case it does not get a majority in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

With the majority of seats already being contested for, anticipation for the results has been growing among both voters and political leaders.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been claiming that it will win a landslide majority this year with the party crossing 400 seats. ‘Abki baar 400 paar’ has become the saffron party’s campaign slogan this election season while leaders exuded confidence over BJP’s performance.

When asked during an interview with ANI if the BJP has a plan B in case it does not get a majority, Shah said, “Plan B needs to be made only when there is less than a 60% chance for Plan A (to succeed). I am certain that PM Modi will come to power with a thumping majority.”

‘No foreign interference’

The union minister also slammed foreign reports claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party is seeking to “throttle democracy” by seeking more than 400 seats.

“Should Indian voters cast their votes at foreign media’s convenience? There is no foreign interference. Anyone can say anything they want. Voters in India are very mature. Once the counting begins, all the foreign media talking about our elections will go on a holiday,” Shah said in an interview with ANI.

The Ministry of External Affairs, earlier this month, criticised the US for interfering in India’s electoral process by classifying the country as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ for the fifth consecutive year.

“The US Commission on International Religious Freedom is known as a biased organisation with a political agenda. They continue to publish their propaganda on India masquerading as part of an annual report,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

“Their efforts to interfere in the largest electoral exercise of the world will never succeed,” he added.
