It was widely reported that Uday U Lalit, whose name has been recommended for appointment as a Supreme Court judge, has represented Amit Shah in the Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case. However, Times of India reports that Lalit had never appeared for Amit Shah in the case. The Times of India reports, “As an ace criminal lawyer, he was sought after by high profile people facing prosecution. But he had never appeared for Amit Shah, now BJP president and a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. [caption id=“attachment_1616687” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Uday Lalit. IBN Live. Uday Lalit. The rejection was based on the CBI report on Subramaniam which said that he had privately met the lawyer for A Raja during the 2G case, a charge that was denied by the former advocate general. Bar and Bench reports that Lalit’s appointment comes as a replacement for Subramaniam.
