AFP[/caption] Both casualties were reported on Wednesday, taking the dengue death toll to at least 13, even as the embattled Delhi government and the BJP-ruled civic bodies continued to grapple with the dengue menace. Monika Bahl, a resident of Lajpat Nagar died on Tuesday at the Moolchand Hospital due to dengue shock syndrome leading to multi-organ failure. According to doctors at Moolchand, the patient had come with complaints of fever and vomiting and was admitted to the hospital almost a week ago. “She was shifted to the ICU three days later after there were complications. She had tested positive for dengue and passed away yesterday morning apparently due to dengue shock syndrome which had led to multi-organ failure,” a doctor at Moolchand Hospital said. A 14-year-old boy also became the victim of the deadly disease, succumbing at the Maharaja Agrasen Hospital. According to sources, the young patient was admitted two days ago and died on Tuesday. The death toll as per the official MCD data still stands at 5, while 13 deaths have been reported from hospitals across the city till date. As per the municipal corporation’s data till 12 September, at least 613 cases of dengue have been reported in the last one week and a total 1,872 patients tested positive for the vector-borne disease.
