Two arrested in Uttar Pradesh for 'spreading rumours' about braid chopping

Sambhal: Two persons have been arrested in Sambal for allegedly spreading rumours about braid chopping, police said on Saturday.

Bhikan and Nand Kishore were arrested late on Friday night from Jeroi Hayatnagar village for spreading rumours about the braid of a 10-year-old girl being chopped off, police officials said.

A case has also been registered against the duo, in-charge of Bahjoi police station Braj Mohan Giri said.

Superintendent of Police, Sambhal, Ravi Shankar Chhabi said strict action will be initiated against those indulging in spreading rumours.

Meanwhile, at least 15 incidents of women's braids being mysteriously chopped off have been reported from the villages of Haryana's Mewat region in last two weeks.
