TN CB-CID try to find if Patna accused were involved in Chennai blasts

Chennai: With the arrest of four persons in the Patna serial blasts, Tamil Nadu CB-CID police is trying to ascertain if they had “any role or have clues about the perpetrators” of the May 1 twin blasts on a train here. Police said the CB-CID wing is in touch with thei counterparts in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in this regard. PTI[/caption] The Tamil Nadu police is trying to ascertain if those arrested in connection with the Patna blasts had “any role whatsoever or have clues about the perpetrators of the Chennai crime (blasts),” the sources said, but declined to elaborate. NIA today arrested four persons at Ranchi, including alleged mastermind Hyder Ali alias ‘Black Beauty’, in connection with the Patna serial blasts ahead of Narendra Modi’s rally last year. The CB-CID investigating the Chennai twin blasts on the Bangalore-Guwahati Express has already identified certain similarities between the blasts here and in Patna. The role of Indian Mujahideen, absconding terror suspect Abubacker Siddique and some terror sleeper cells are being investigated as part of the overall probe by CB-CID. A police team has completed a round of investigations in Karnataka and questioned two suspects. Also, a team of Karnataka officials handling terror related cases there have studied the leads in the Tamil Nadu case, they said. Karnataka Police has been coordinating with their counterparts here on several terror related cases, including the April 2013 Malleswaram blast near the BJP office in Bangalore. In that case, all accused belonged to Tamil Nadu. Among them were Panna Ismail, Bilal Malik and ‘Police’ Fakruddin, who were arrested in October 2013 at Puttur in Andhra Pradesh. PTI
