AFP[/caption] The domestic help of the 27-year-old unmarried officer, had heard the shot being fired at the officer’s residential quarter on the police station campus and then found him lying in a pool of blood. The police was then alerted, as reported by The Hindu . In a suicide note, recovered from the spot, the deceased officer had stated that he had been suffering from depression for the past one year. However, according to Deccan Chronicle, reasons for the depression were not mentioned in the note. As per the report in Deccan Chronicle, those nearby had rushed Sridhar to a hospital in Asifabad where doctors then declared him “brought dead”. An officer was quoted saying that Sridhar had gone into coma soon after shooting himself. As per the reports in The Hindu, Sridhar had joined the Kerameri police station just two days before his alleged suicide. While an inquiry has been ordered into the incident, the reason for the  suicide is rumoured to be harassment by a superior officer. Sridhar is the second SI in Adilabad district to have committed suicide. The first incident took place in December 2011 when Mudhole Sub-Inspector Tajuddin, aged 26 years, shot himself dead with his service revolver, also at his residential quarter.
