Telangana row: Jagan Reddy taken into preventive custody

YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy was forcibly moved by the police during his fast in Hyderabad around 11 pm tonight and taken to the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, where he has been placed in preventive custody. It was the fifth day of Jagan’s fast, which he had undertaken to protest the creation of Telangana. [caption id=“attachment_1163117” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Jaganmohan Reddy. AFP](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/JaganReddy_AFP2.jpg) Jaganmohan Reddy. AFP[/caption] YSR Congress’s DA Somayajulu told CNN-IBN that “all those who had visited Jagan had told him to call of the fast as his health was deteriorating.” Somayajulu said though their leader had been taken away, their agitation against the formation of Telangana would continue. However, Somayajulu said, “The police did not have to take Jagan to the hospital in the middle of the night.” CNN-IBN had earlier reported that as the hunger strike of Jaganmohan Reddy entered its fifth day his situation was deteriorating. Meanhwile, a YSR Congress Party delegation, led by Jagan’s mother YS Vijayamma, today met President Pranab Mukurjee seeking his intervention to stop the process of division of Andhra Pradesh. “When three other states, including Madhya Pradesh, were divided, the respective state assemblies had passed resolutions to this effect. But in the case of Andhra Pradesh, the Centre has begun the bifurcation process without a resolution adopted by the state assembly,” YSR Congress Party leader Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, who was part of the delegation, told PTI
