Bhopal: At least two students of the National Law Institute University (NLIU) in Bhopal have filed complaints with the UGC’s anti-ragging helpline, accusing their seniors of indulging in ragging, sexual abuse and alcohol consumption on the campus. PTI[/caption] The director of NLIU, SS Singh, said a probe has been ordered into the matter but claimed that the complaints were not entirely true as some people named in the complaint did not exist. One of the complaints lodged by a male student on 20 July said, “A (female) senior is molesting me again and again.” It alleged that the senior, after getting drunk, sexually abused him. “I got away anyhow, but I don’t think that I’ll be always saved. This place is a hell,” it said. The student alleged that even teachers and wardens knew that liquor was consumed in the hostel, yet they turned a blind eye to it. Another student, who recently joined the campus, alleged that seniors ragged freshers and even forced them to watch porn movies till 5 in the morning. The NLIU director said, “Everything in the complaints is not true.” “Some people named in the complaint don’t even exist. The hostel warden and the proctorial board are investigating the complaints and will come out with their findings shortly,” he said. According to Singh, they have already recorded the statements of the complainants.
