All the fishermen were taken to Kagesanthurai, he said. On 23 June  and 22 June, Sri Lankan Navy arrested 4 fishermen and 21 fishermen respectively, all of whom were from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Around 50 fishermen have been arrested this month. The Tamil Nadu government expressed concern over the “alarming increase” in number of “attacks” on Indian fishermen. Chief Minister K Palaniswamy had said that such apprehensions have a “demoralising impact” on fishermen as well as the people of the state. With inputs from PTI
