Should India's SC follow UK model, create a press office ?

As the Supreme Court attempts to decide whether rules need to be framed on journalists reporting court matters and other sub-judice cases, a petitioner has suggested following the model of the UK Supreme Court which created a press office to help reporters covering court cases. The Supreme Court is presently hearing a group of petitions on whether it should frame regulations on how the media should report matters that are sub-judice and matters the court is considering. Reuters”]  [/caption]An associate editor of the Bar and Bench website, Raghul Sudheesh has filed an intervention application before the Supreme Court seeking that while news reporting could be regulated, rules that resulted in bans or postponement in reporting a case was not a solution. The application seeks that a Press Office on the lines of the one formed by the UK Supreme Court. “The UK Supreme Court’s Press Office provides a comprehensive service to media professionals seeking information about the Court’s hearings and wider work. Also every judgment delivered by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of UK is accompanied by a press summary. The press summary provides a background of the case, the judgment and the reasons for the same. It also contains a note to editors,” Sudheesh has noted in his application. Sudheesh has also sought that all court proceedings be recorded to clarify the stand of the court in future and to start a television channel like Lok Sabha so that people can watch it.
