Shocker: 17-year-old raped and killed by father for eloping

In yet another shocking incident, a 45-year-old man allegedly raped and killed his 17-year-old daughter for eloping with a boy from his locality in Ghazipur town of Uttar Pradesh. The girl was reportedly four months pregnant. According to reports, the girl had eloped with her 19-year-old boyfriend  from their village of Komalpur in UP four months ago and had got married.  They were staying in Bhayander (West) in Mumbai. [caption id=“attachment_1202395” align=“alignright” width=“380”] ![AFP](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Rape-Mumbai-1-AFP.jpg) AFP[/caption] Two weeks back, the girl’s 45-year-old father, a labourer, tracked them down and urged her to return to their hometown. When the girl refused, the father took her into the jungles at Dachkulpada in Kashimir and raped her on 31 October. The father then asked his friend to repeat the act to “teach his daughter a lesson”,  reported Times of India. Fearing she would report the sexual assault, they strangled her with her dupatta and left the body there. The accused have been identified as Ramesh Rajbhar (45), the victim’s father, and his friend Shivchand Rajbhar (42). They were arrested on Monday and remanded in police custody till November 15. The father told the police that the elopement had “tarnished the family name” and her frequent elopement for “sex was the reason he raped her and got his friend to do so too”, reported ToI. The police are searching for the girl’s boyfriend.
