PTI[/caption] Rai, who is currently under police custody along with Indrani Mukhereja and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, sent one page letter, written in Hindi, to the court through the jail authorities. The news regarding the letter became public on Monday when advocates involved in the case were informed about it, reports the Hindustan Times
. “I have been told that Rai has sent an application saying he wants to tell the truth in the court,” said Khanna’s lawyer, Shreyansh Mithar, on Monday. The metropolitan magistrate’s court is yet to take a decision on Rai’s request, reports the Mumbai Mirror
. Rai has bee a crucial link to the entire case. Arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, it was him who told the police about the murder. Indrani, Khanna and Rai have been arrested on the charge of murdering Sheena and disposing off her body in a Raigad forest in April 2012. The judicial custody of the trio was on Monday extended by a local magistrate till 31 October. Last month, the Maharashtra government decided to transfer the murder probe to CBI after days of uncertainty on the supervisory role of former Mumbai police chief Rakesh Maria, who was shunted in the midst of the inquiry that he had helmed proactively.
