Sheena Bora murder case: Bones found in 2012 don't match remains exhumed recently?

Even as Indrani Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna will be produced in a court in Mumbai on Monday as their judicial custody ends, experts at the BYL Nair Hospital in a report to the Khar police station have said that the remains collected by the Pen police in 2012 and those submitted by JJ Hospital are probably not from the same body. The Times of India reports that the BYL Nair Hospital has criticised JJ Hospital in their report for callous paperwork and called for DNA profiling of the bones stored at the JJ hospital to end the confusion. PTI[/caption] The Times of India quoted a doctor from the Nair hospital as saying, “JJ Hosiptal gave the Khar police multiple teeth, bones from chest and vertebrae, and some charred skin. These were not the remains mentioned in the Pen report. The humerus was not there in the JJ samples. It seems that JJ doctors neither documented what was given to them in 2012 nor what they handed over to the Khar police in 2015. It is clear that we are dealing with two different sets of remains.” However, earlier this month, PTI had reported that the digital superimposition of the profile of Sheena Bora has matched with the skull recovered from a forest in the neighbouring Raigad district. The matching of digital superimposition with the skull is important in establishing that the human remains found in the forest in Pen tehsil of Raigad are of Sheena, the daughter of Indrani Mukerjea, Peter’s wife. Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and their driver Shyamvar Rai are right now in judicial custody over their alleged complicity in the murder of Bora. So far, what is known from the statements of the accused and several others, it appears that Sheena was strangled by Indrani in a rented car in Mumbai after which her body was burnt and dumped in the forests in Raigad. The police have extensively grilled Indrani’s husband Peter Mukerjea, though he is not an accused in the case. Others questioned in connection with the case included Peter’s son Rahul Mukerjea and Vidhie, daughter of Indrani and Sanjeev Khanna. With PTI inputs
