Seemandhra Cong MPs unfazed by suspension motion in LS

New Delhi: Congress MPs from Seemandhra  region, against whom a motion for suspension was moved in Lok Sabha today, remained unfazed by the action of the party-led government, noting “when the regional feelings come, party plays a very small role”. After a strategic session of the Seemandhra Congress MPs at K V P Ramachandra Rao’s residence here, MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar said, “It is not the question of party. People belonging to the Seemandhra area, they are demanding for an integrated state for various reasons. PTI[/caption] Earlier in the day, the government moved a motion in Lok Sabha to suspend 10 members from Seemandhra region, including six from Congress, for continued protests over Telangana issue. But the move was scuttled by an aggressive and united Opposition. “Tomorrow is the D day. Tomorrow the Speaker will announce whether we will continue to be the members or stay outside,” Kumar said when asked about the suspension issue. Reacting to a query on Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj’s reported suggestion that an all-party panel should be constituted to address all the issues related to the division, he said they heard it only through the media. “Nobody has communicated to us,” he said. At the same time, Congress MPs from Telangana region accused the BJP and the TDP of adopting double standards on the separate statehood issue. “They (BJP and TDP) supported us our separate statehood demand. Now they are playing politics over it. We strongly condemn the double standard adopted by these parties,” Telangana Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar said. PTI
