Road rage in Delhi: BJP to give Rs 5 lakh to bus driver who was beaten to death

New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay on Monday slammed AAP government for “running away” from its responsibility in case of a DTC bus driver’s death and said it will provide a financial help of Rs 5 lakh to family of the road rage victim. Refuting AAP’s allegation that BJP was behind the DTC strike Upadhyay said “AAP’s allegation was not a new thing. I can also allege that some people are saying that those who were involved in the incident were connected to AAP and Gopal Rai went their to save the accused.” [caption id=“attachment_2238370” align=“alignleft” width=“380” class=" “] ![BJP Satish Upadhyay. ](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/satish_upadhyay_ibnlive.jpg) Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay. Image courtesy: IBNLive[/caption] A delegation of Delhi BJP leaders will meet the family of deceased DTC bus driver Ashok’s family and provide a relief of Rs 5 lakh, he said. Demanding the AAP government to give Rs one crore to family of Ashok, Upadhyay said " AAP had promised to provide security in DTC buses for women passengers but even bus drivers and conductors were not safe which raised question over Delhi government’s functioning.” Attacking CM Arvind Kejriwal of running an “undeclared emergency” regime, he said that “several AAP MLAs were accused in law and order matters but Kejriwal was mum on it”. “An FIR was filed against AAP MLA Pramila Tokas in SC/ST Act provisions an year ago and now the chargesheet has also been filed. We want to known from Kejriwal if he will = order her arrest and ask her to resign,” Upadhyay said. Referring to his meeting with farmers hit by unseasonal rain, the BJP leader said “there were several complaints of the farmers who said that survey was not conducted to estimate their losses. Many others complained that there claims of crop loss were ignored by the government.” Accusing AAP government of curtailing press freedom, Upadhyay charged that “monitoring media content was an attempt to stop media from exposing it and also it was another move to pave way of some more AAP volunteers in Delhi Secretariat.” PTI
